Cora Kelley Ward (1920-1989) was an innovative American artist known for her impactful contributions to Abstract Expressionism through both painting and photography. A Louisiana native who studied under Josef Albers and Clement Greenberg at Black Mountain College, Ward became an active participant in New York’s art community. Her energetic brushwork and vibrant color fields, alongside extensive photographic documentation of the art scene, garnered posthumous recognition. Collections featuring her work include the Princeton University Art Museum, Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
