Nancy Graves (1939-1995) was an American multidisciplinary artist acclaimed for her pioneering integration of sculpture, painting, and film, often inspired by natural science and anthropology. Recognized early with a solo retrospective at the Whitney Museum in 1969, Graves continually innovated through abstract bronze castings and vivid paintings. Her influential practice is represented in collections such as MoMA, Whitney Museum, National Gallery of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, and Walker Art Center.
