Description
A substantial gouache study for Morrison’s Aureate Vertical, the 1958 painting in the collection of the Chrysler Museum of Art and exhibited in The Magical City: George Morrison’s New York at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Built from layered passages of yellow, orange, red, and rose, the work captures Morrison’s late-1950s New York-period abstraction in a large, fully realized format.
